Jan Matejko

Jan Matejko was a Polish painter mostly known for his enormous painting of notable historical Polish political and military events. He is today, and was during his life, counted among the most famous Polish painter. He is also the author of murals in St. Mary’s Basilica, and was a teacher to number of prominent Polish painters – Jacek Malczewski, Jozef Mehoffer, and Stanislaw Wyspianski.
